India is a fast developing nation, witnessing rapid strides in science and technology. Cutthroat competition is the order of the day. The awareness level regarding the power of education as a tool for career growth is on the rise at an amazing pace. Andhra Pradesh is heading towards claiming the lion’s share in the success rate of all-India examinations like the IIT-JEE as well as the Civil Services. Not all are successful, of course and this is understably frustrating those who couldn’t be as successful as they wanted to be. Where lies the problem is a crucial question and calls for a careful insight. Put straight, the answer is that the approach of our customary schooling is itself disastrouly defective. It is steeped in a marks and grades oriented system with very little room for any intellectual element or application of what they already know. (This explains why our students find the MAT paper in the NTSE very tough.) Little attention is paid to identify the aptitude of a student. Nor is there any provision to shape the attitude which is vital in career prospects. The need to develop the confidence level, communicative ability and mould the etiquette are rarely realised are addressed.
It is in this direction that ‘roots’ wants to put in an effort and make a significant contribution, within the limitations, of course. The focus of ‘roots’ certainly is on giving the students a competitive edge. But, it must be mentioned here that academic brilliance is not the only end that ‘roots’ wishes to realise. The term ‘essential faculties’ by and large reflects the objective of ‘roots’, and the term is explained in detail in the subsequent pages.
It is a pleasure for us to introduce “roots school” to all parents who wish to develop their children. Strong and able citizens can make a strong Nation. Therefore it is necessary to build up good students from childhood. In spite of many educational institutions and corporate colleges and Training Institutions many students are found to be unsuccessful in competitive examinations and some are failing to get suitable jobs even if they have gone through intensive coaching. So it is necessary to identify exactly the reasons for it and correct the system in which young children are taught and brought up. “Roots” is an attempt in this direction which is distinct from other schools. Our aim is not only to improve the student’s educational standards, but also to improve all round total personality of a student.
